U.S. schools lag behind in the use of technology
This article didn't really teach me anything new. It's obvious that schools are terribly behind in technology and it makes so sense to me. Why are schools fighting technology? I know some schools have trouble with funding, but what about all the other schools that go out and find funding or grants to get the technology that is going to help their students so much? It's time for education to catch up with the rest of the 21st century and get ready to embrace technology and the wonderful benefits it can have for our students.
National Education Technology Plan
How exciting! This plan is exactly what the U.S. needs! It is time to catch up and move with the trend. Students are already very acquainted with the internet and various technological equipment. It's about time that everyone stood up and took notice that technology has become a very integral part of life and society. Seeing as how it's education that teaches society, it only makes sense that it should be up to education to ensure that every one is ready for this trend.
NETS: National Education Technology Standards: for Standards, for Teachers and for Administrators
NETS Project sounds like a wonderful idea. Technology is very important in schools and to the students. This website is full of wonderful resources for teachers, going all the way down to how to get grants. If more people took the time to try to get grants then more students would be benefiting from technology.
Don't Just Adapt Technology, Adopt It!!
What a powerful, moving article. It makes perfect sense. Even though I'm only 21 years old, I'm still a "digital immigrant" compared to students today that are going through school. I understand that schools and older teachers can be resistent to change. However, if they are teachers they should be more dedicated to the students then they are to their own ways. When it's time to change, it's just time to change. There is not time to discuss it. Technology is going to require new things for everyone. Education should be at the front of the race, not dragging it's feet in the back.
